Chicken Shawarma
Easy chicken shawarma

Ingredients
- 1kg chicken breast or thighs or skinless thighs (breasts are more lean but
less flavourful)
- 1/3 (80ml) cup olive oil
- 1 tsp ginger paste or 3/4 tsp ginger powder
- 5 garlic cloves
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
Method
- Combine everything together and marinade for at least 4 hours but ideally 24
hours
- Preheat oven to 200°C (not on the same day you marinade 😀)
- Using a bread pan, tightly pile the chicken into the form
- Bake for 45 minutes
- Remove pan from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes
- Take the chicken from the pan, place onto a chopping board (it'll be messy)
- Start slicing top to bottom
- Serve with pita, naan and veggies
- Enjoy!
