Simple Bechamel Sauce

Basic version of one of the simplest mother sauces

2 tablespoons each of butter and flour to 1 cup milk

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (35g) unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup (30g) plain flour
  • 2 1/2 cups (600ml) milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup (70g) parmesan
  • 1 tsp salt and white pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
